Next month’s historic women’s series in Queensland and South Australia will be called the Australian Women’s Baseball Showcase, Baseball Australia announced today.
Australian infrastructure giants Boral and VALO have put their support behind the Showcase as naming rights partners. Baseball Australia today unveiled the event branding ahead of doubleheaders in Brisbane on January 8 and Adelaide on January 17.
Boral will be presenting partner of the Brisbane Showcase as part of its ongoing commitment to women’s baseball in Australia, which includes the Boral Australian Emeralds.
VALO joins the Australian baseball community as the Official LED Lighting Partner of Baseball Australia and presenting partner of the Adelaide Showcase.
The SA based technology manufacturer specialises in LED screens and lighting.
VALO chief commercial officer Nate Godfrey said the company was excited to be contributing to the growth of baseball in Australia and its journey towards the world’s first professional women’s league outside of Japan.
“Baseball is synonymous with being played under lights and engaging fans with visual media,” Godfrey said.
“We’re confident our range of LED products will have a positive impact on the game day experience, and ultimately grow the sport’s appeal by upgrading venue infrastructure.”
Baseball Australia chief executive Cam Vale said the support of Boral and VALO was significant for the growth of women’s baseball in Australia.
“Boral have been long-time supporters of women’s baseball and we’re excited to build an equally strong relationship with VALO,” Vale said.
“The Australian Women’s Baseball Showcase is such an important part of the path towards a professional women’s league in Australia and the support will ensure the event is a huge success.”
Australia’s top female players, including stars of the Boral Australian Emeralds, will represent Adelaide and Brisbane across the four Showcase games next month.
All four games will be broadcast on Foxtel and streamed on Kayo Sports across Australia and beamed into the US.
Baseball Australia is continuing to work with the Melbourne Aces and Baseball Victoria on an additional game day in Victoria.
The Showcase is a key step towards a professional women’s baseball league being launched in Australia in 2021/22.
